Monthly Round Up: June 2015

June was an okay month.
I was on holiday for most of the month so I had a lot of free time.

My brother’s birthday was this month.

I didn’t do a lot this month. I like that Pamela has started blogging again and I really enjoy Afoma’s photo challenge.

I started watching Game of Thrones from the beginning. I think it’s an absolutely brilliant series. I’m currently on S05E02 and that took me about 4 days. I kept off watching it until I read the books but I realised I probably won’t ever get to it. My favourite characters are Tyrion Lannister and “Mother of Dragons”.

I read five books this month

Monthly Round-Up: May 2015

This is going to be a regular thing. At the beginnig of every month, I’ll write a review of the previous month and books I read movies I watched, songs I stumbled on, posts I wrote, that sort of thing.

May was an interesting month. It was supposed to kick off with #TPL4, but due to some things, we had to move to May 30th. Last month was a lot of fun and a lot of work. I watched 11 movies and did some other fun stuff. Here are my faves for the month of May.

I watched a lot of Movies this month

• The Equalizer – I’d rate it 5 stars
• Love Comes Softly – Very sweet story, but 3 stars. Felt too much like Christian Romance novel
• Love, Rosie – I loved this one, but it became a bit annoying towards the end. 4 stars
• A Merry Friggin Christmas – Sweet Christmas story. 3 stars
• Beauty and the Briefcase – 2 stars
• Edge of Tomorrow – 5 stars. I loved the story and the back story
• Kingsman, The Secret Service – best movie this month. 5 stars
• Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day – Interesting story, 4 stars
• October 1 – I loved this movie. It was very good. 4.5 stars
• The Princess Diaries 1 – always a fave. 4 stars
• The Princess Diaries 2 – Did you know Shonda Rhimes did the screenplay?

I read some Books

• The Girl on the Train – 4 stars. Review here
• The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend – 3 stars I wrote a review here

I watched Empire. One of the best things I did this month. I’m going to write a full review post on the entire Season 1 and I’m excited about Season 2.

I also saw Hear Word. An interesting stage play featuring some of the best women in stage play that Nigeria has to offer. The play was shown at Unilag and the ticket cost N500. I can say that that was the best N500 I’d ever spent.

I had exams. First-semester exams, 200 level. Studying psychology required more effort than I was prepared for and I had to quit work. Predictably, lack of work is affecting my finances and I’m learning to budget more and not spend money anyhow. I’m also trying to reduce how much data I use monthly. Anyway, back to exams. They went great, and I thank God.

I unofficially launched @BookBarterNG at #TPL4 (May 30). It was a great experience and I’m excited about the possibilities. Hopefully, the website goes live before the end of July and we continue to have offline events at least once a month.

Random Ramblings on a Rainy Saturday

Hello people.

So this post is just random things I’ve been thinking about or I’ve thought about recently.
This rant will mostly be about books. This is not a book review but it is mostly about books.

1. Whenever I say that Ghana Must Go sucked and is very overrated, people give me this weird look like: “you have betrayed the gods of the black – African for that matter, woman”. A travesty.

5 Reasons eBooks are Better Than Print Books

In my last post, I gave a few reasons why Print Books are Better Than eBooks.
Like I said in that post, I really don’t care about the format of a book, as long as I have a book to read, but I think print books own my heart and I like ebooks because they’re easy.

5 Reasons Print Books Are Better Than eBooks

wpid-wp-1408796983921.jpegIf you know me, you’ll know that books are one of the great loves of my life. I’ll read a book in any form I find it and I really don’t care whether it’s print or electronic or audio. As long as I’m reading a book. This post is just a few of the reasons why I think print books are better than ebooks. Continue reading
