5 Reasons Print Books Are Better Than eBooks

wpid-wp-1408796983921.jpegIf you know me, you’ll know that books are one of the great loves of my life. I’ll read a book in any form I find it and I really don’t care whether it’s print or electronic or audio. As long as I’m reading a book. This post is just a few of the reasons why I think print books are better than ebooks.

1. Great conversation starters
Books are one of the best conversation starters ever. You see that hot girl reading a book that you’ve read (or haven’t read) and you can just open up with something in/about the book or ask about the book. But with an e-reader, no one can see what you’re reading.

2. Books don’t run out of battery
So you’re reading this very interesting book and your e-reader dies right in the middle of this very interesting sentence. You can’t do anything but count the minutes till you recharge your device. With a print book, you can drop off and continue when and where you like.

3. Libraries and bookshops

What is life without bookshops and libraries. The smell of books, being surrounded by books, running your hands through the books. It’s almost orgasmic

4. Book signings
It’s practically not possible to sign an ebook. When your favourite author goes on a book tour for his/her new book and he/she is doing a book signing, you can’t take your e-reader. Also, you can showoff your signed print book.

5. Books are collectable

How are you going to show off your large collection of first edition classic books if you don’t have a bookshelf in your house. You can collect first editions, special editions, and out of print books.

Bonus
You can take your print book anywhere
When you’re on a plane, you don’t need to keep it away. When you’re in the bathtub, you can take it in with you. When you’re at the beach? Check. Tell me one place you can’t take a book into.

Another Library, just because

  1. I prefer print books too. Another reason for me (might sound a little weird): don’t you just love the fresh paper smell of print books? And the sexy sound you hear when you turn a page?! Mmm! 😀

    • I like turning pages too. The last time I travelled, I almost paid for excess luggage because of how much the books I bought weighed. They could have easily ‘fit’ in an e-reader. E-books are also cheaper. Times are changing, I think e-books will ‘win’ in the end.
