Kiburi

This post has been in my head for a LOOONG time but I never got around to typing it.

I’m talking about pride. Whenever most people hear pride, the first thing that comes to mind is: “pride goes before a fall”. But pride isn’t so bad; is it?

When you aren’t proud [of yourself], you tend to become less self confident, you underrate yourself and your achievements. Like why should you apologize for getting 100% in that test that everybody else failed. Why should you apologize for realizing that you are a beautiful girl. Why do you have to apologize for having a hot body. Why do you have to say you are sorry because you got a promotion that everybody was eyeing due to your hard work. Why do you have to apologize for coming first and beating the second by a large margin even if you didn’t stress yourself. Why should you apologize if you earn more than your husband. Be proud of yourself. Why should you apologize because your wife earns more than you. Be proud of her. Support her. Why should you apologize for not keeping quiet when you should be recognized.

God made you beautiful, He gave you the talent. The brains. The ability to draw, paint, sing, play an instrument, solve calculations that would take others hours in minutes. Appreciate your gifts. Be proud of your achievements. Accept the praise for what you’ve done. Don’t underrate/under-sell yourself. If you’ve done something, you should be recognized. Be proud of yourself. Be proud of your abilities. Pride isn’t always a bad thing. Look on the positive side. Be proud of who you are, what you are and what you can do

I believe I also made that point on the post I wrote on here. Vanity = negative pride, where positive is… well, pride.

When the woman who makes more than her husband begins to get haughty and unnecessarily preen and shows her pride in an unacceptable manner, that’s when it becomes a bad thing. Vanity.

    Spot on, Lade.
